Just days after leading India to their Asia Cup 2025 triumph over Pakistan, Jasprit Bumrah was back in action in the longest format. The pace spearhead turned up for India in the opening Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Bumrah, who delivered a fiery new-ball spell in the Asia Cup final last Sunday, had little time to recover before making the switch to red-ball cricket. His presence provided a major boost for India as they look to begin the home season of the new World Test Championship cycle on a strong note.
At 31, Bumrah has been India’s go-to bowler across formats, carrying immense responsibility in recent years. Despite concerns over workload management, the team management entrusted him with the Test opener, underlining his importance to both the white-ball and red-ball sides.
