Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is poised to make a comeback in the Big Bash League after more than a decade away, joining the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming 15th edition of the Big Bash League. Having recently retired from T20 internationals, Starc's schedule now allows him to participate in the latter part of the tournament, potentially joining after the Ashes series concludes on January 8. His availability will ultimately depend on his fitness following the five-Test Ashes campaign.
The 35-year-old left-arm pacer has previous experience with the Sixers, having last played for them in 2014. He holds fond memories from the league's early seasons, including the inaugural BBL title and Champions League victories. Starc's inclusion is expected to strengthen the Sixers' bowling attack, adding experience and firepower for important matches, including the Sydney Smash and possibly the finals.
