The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the decision is firm, the GCA is still working to determine the optimal window for the tournament and finalize key details such as the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide invaluable platforms for local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
